Which tank best suits your needs?

There are two key factors to consider when selecting a tank that best suits your particular requirements.

1. Available Space (usually in proximity to roof downpipes). Given the tremendous rainwater harvesting potential of even the smallest roof area, we would recommend the largest water tank possible given both the ground space and height available. Water storage capacity (capturing free rainwater) is the reason most people purchase a water tank. It’s also important to keep in mind that rainfall isn’t necessarily consistent. It’s best to catch as much of it as possible when it’s available. Please refer to our Products listings for the exact dimensions of our various water tanks.

2. Access to the Proposed Tank Location. Following your answer to the question above, can the tank that you have in mind be moved into the end location? Are their gate widths and other obstacles to consider?

Of course, the expert team at Big Country Tanks are here to help with any questions you may have regarding your particular requirements. Please don’t hesitate to call them on 1300 353 171 or email them at info@bigcountrytanks.com.au.

What payment methods does Big Country Tanks accept?

It’s important to us that purchasing your rainwater tank is as simple and convenient as possible. Accordingly, we offer a number of different payment methods:
      Credit Card (Visa and Mastercard)
      Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT)

Are Big Country Tanks tanks made of separate parts ‘welded’ together?

No. For superior strength, aesthetics and overall quality, all poly tanks supplied by Big Country Tanks are a one piece tank, manufactured utilising the latest rotational moulding technologies.

Do Big Country Tanks tanks meet the Australian Standard?

Yes. All of our tanks, both round and slimline, are manufactured and quality assured in strict accordance with the Australian Standard (AS4766:2006). For further details on the Australian Standard (AS4766:2006), simply contact the friendly Big Country Tanks team on 1300 353 171 or email them at info@bigcountrytanks.com.au. Quality is something that we take very seriously.

What is ‘poly’ when it comes to water tanks?

‘Poly’ is an abbreviation of polyethylene (PE), which is a robust, chemical resistant thermopoly (plastic). In accordance with the Australian Standard (AS4766:2006), all poly water tanks supplied by Big Country Tanks are manufactured from virgin, food-grade polyethylene specifically for the containment of potable (drinking water) water.

Unlike some plastics (e.g., cheap polycarbonates), which are designed for a disposable, short life span, polyethylene water tanks are completely free of Bisphenol A (BPA).

Due to its safety and remarkable longevity, polyethylene has grown to be the leading material for water tanks in Australia.

How much rainwater am I likely to capture with my tank?

The following link leads to some very useful information and an online calculator that takes into consideration roof area and average rainfall to determine how much rainwater can be captured per annum.

As an indication, Rockhampton's average annual rainfall is 800mm.

You’ll be surprised by how much free rainwater you could be catching!
